Sherco TVS Rally Factory team left Pisco heading towards San Juan de Marcona in the second stage. The ride comprised of 553 km of liaison and 342 km of special, this marks the beginning of complicated routes at Dakar 2019.
After a good start from our four riders, Michael Metge suffered a fuel outage 7 km away from the CP and found himself at the halfway point with a delay of one and a half hours. He still managed to finish the stage. This is disheartening for the team but the Dakar is a very long journey so there are many opportunities that lie ahead.
On the other hand Lorenzo Santolino, Adrien Metge and Aravind KP made a leap in their rankings. In his first Dakar, Lorenzo finished in the 12th place, riding almost the entire second stage in the top ten. Adrien finished the race with overall 16th position while Aravind KP finished 61st and continues his progression at Dakar 2019.
The riders will leave for Arequipa riding one of the most difficult stages of Dakar 2019 in stage 3. They will cover a total distance of 799km which includes 331km of special.
Lorenzo Santolino said, “I stayed consistent throughout the stage trying to push a little when I could, I felt good in the dunes and I was careful in the fech fech. Everything is going well with the motorcycle and the team. “
Adrien Metge said, “It was a nice day for me and I had a good time on my bike, which worked very well, we followed the tracks of the cars, but tomorrow we go first so we’ll have to concentrate on navigation” Mickaël Metge said, “It was a challenging stage for me. I lost a lot of time but it’s the Dakar and there are still a lot of kilometers to go. I will give it my best shot.”
Aravind KP said, “I feel better on the bike . The stage was difficult with lot of dunes and different grounds. I do my best to keep myself and the bike safe until the end of this Dakar.”
